In writing this week we had to write about a sort snippet of your favourite .day in the holidays.
Anzac Day
Stepping out of the car my foot gave a “tap”. With every breath, I could see it almost like fog, it was a chilly day. We had a short walk to the war memorial. Layer upon layer of bricks formed a tall tower, it was the war memorial in all its glory lit up from the bottom. With every crash of a wave, the sea became louder, people stopped talking it was about to start. As dawn broke we all stood mourning the lost. That great loss was etched in the memorial before us. Yes it was Anzac day. An eerie silence grew as everyone realised what this day means to us. There would have been at least 700 people there and everyone was there for one purpose, to remember. As I looked around I see the men that are currently serving our nation. They looked very proud. As the crowd began to slowly stroll away, it looked like ants spreading from a footstep. It was over. Now let's go have that hot chocolate!
